Netbook Case - netbook, carrying cases

I have a Asus 1005HAB and this fits like a glove. I went through several sleeves and cases to find this one. What makes this so great is that the faux leather gives you a non slip grip. It will accomodate the 6 cell battery. I really don't think that you can get any thing else other than the netbook in the case. I bought this when it was on sale which makes it even better. Belkin 10 inch Netbook Laptop Sleeve - Fits Apple iPad (80-8215)

This product is a sleeve for a tablet (or a netbook), not a folding frame. By itself, I don't consider it to give sufficient protection to the tablet screen, so I also have a cover on my iPad2. However, I feel very confident with the combination of the cover and this sleeve. It also has enough slack inside to allow me to carry a stylus, a sync cable and a microfiber towel, all inside together with the iPad2 and its cover. I rated it 4 starts because I would like to have a small pocket on the outside where I could include the iPad accessories (cable, stylus and towel), rather than carry them inside with the iPad. If the manufacturer releases an up-dated design, I would buy it on the spot.

This case fits the Asus Eee Pad Transformer well. It is a tight fit length-wise with about 1/2 inch of room width-wise. Overall, it is a good looking case that would provide good protection from scratches and dings, but probably not much from dropping it on the ground. Good case, great price, you won't be disappointed.

Ordered this product when it was on sale. A few days later received this e-mail

"We're writing to inform you that your order XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX from The OEM Shop has been canceled. Your credit card was not charged for this order. If you're still interested in this item, please search for it again on Amazon.com." Yes, product is now listed at a higher price. I guess if the company wants to raise the price after the order has been placed, they just cancel. Don't waste your time.....why bother!!!!

This is exactly what I was looking for. Sleek, snug, functional. I have the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 and the little transmitter fits under it, too, meaning I don't have to unplug that every time I put the sleeve on.

I needed a sleeve that would allow me to cover my ipad2 and smartcover while carrying them to and from work in a backpack.

For the price, this works well. There is about 1" of space at top/bottom but fits well across. Good padding.

There is no pouch for pens or other accessories but I just put them in with the iPad.

In general is really good, fits perfectly but the Faux Leather is a bit unnecessary since it just makes it a little bit bulky. I would rather have a sleeve instead of that leather although the upside is that it adds some extra protection to the computer. - Neoprene - Netbook - Laptop Bags - Carrying Cases'

Wireless Camera - surveillance, infrared

Summary: Overall this camera does everything well, and for the price, nothing comes close.

Setup was quick and painless. I plugged the camera into my router with the included cable and after checking my router settings for the IP address, I could access the camera straight from a browser. On the settings page I only modified the username/password, adjusted the pan/tilt speed and added my wireless settings. There are a lot of other options, but these are the basics to get up and running and allow placement of the camera anywhere within range of your wireless router with only the power adapter.

The picture is clear and works in all light conditions from total darkness to daylight. The IR is very useful in both of my toddlers rooms at night. The wide angle allows me to see a lot and with the pan/tilt I can see everything.

We have iPhones and we use an app called "Foscam Surveillance". It works well with these cameras (including the pan/tilt function) and is only $5. We can also access these cameras from outside our home over the internet either from a browser on say my computer at work or using the app on my iPhone. My husband set that up, send me a message and I will see if I can have him post some instructions on how to do that. It's great for checking on the kids when they are with the sitter or knowing that our home is safe when we are gone on the weekends. The peace of mind has been priceless for us.

My husband and I already had a few of the previous model, the Foscam FI8908W. Although not a giant leap, there are some definite improvements that make this a worthwhile upgrade. Some improvements are:

1.) Increased pan/tilt range and speed settings (fast is nice when following a running child!)

2.) Slightly improved look and smaller size

3.) Replaced the activity light on the front of the camera with an additional IR LED

4.) The onboard speaker and microphone have much clearer sound than the old model and are accompanied by additional audio input and output jacks on the back to allow an external speaker and/or microphone.

5.) Ability to turn off the IR LEDs from the web interface

Conclusion: My husband and I have found this IP camera is easy to setup and works well to remotely view areas around our home. Believe me when I say we did a lot of research, and for the price, nothing comes close to this IP camera. Foscam FI8918W Wireless/Wired Pan & Tilt IP Camera with 8 Meter Night Vision and 3.6mm Lens (67° Viewing Angle) - Black NEWEST MODEL (replaces the FI8908W)

I really wanted to love this camera, the feature set appeared to be excellent. The set up was fairly simple to set up a static IP address and I even gave it a higher port number. It did work well in Firefox, Chrome and Safari, but the most advanced features like sound and better quality picture appear to be in Internet Explorer. I even got it to work via my iPhone. The problem I have is the constant freezing upon logging via Internet Explorer on my Windows 7 Laptops. I'm running both 32 bit and 64 bit IE. I looked for solutions and saw users have been experiencing IE issues with the buggy Active X controls since Vista.

I'm on the fence if I should keep this Wireless IP Cam, since the Activex code crashes on both my laptops and freezes them. I'm sick of having to reboot. It's very annoying, but I'm not sure if I really need the audio anyway, I'm more interested in photos and ability to ftp, and email pictures to an account. It's annoying since I even upgraded the firmware to the most current version and tried to follow all the useless instructions of disabling firewalls, disabling antivirus, and allowing all active x controls even whitelisted the IP in a trusted zone. NOTHING WORKED. So far the Active x controls are the only thing broken, besides two IR lamps seem to dim compared to the rest, the ability to pan and tilt are excellent. Image Quality is fair, seems almost better in the dark, but in the dark it's black and white.

Update:

I decided to keep the Camera. I've noticed it seems to go into a "look" mode randomly moving everywhere occasionally, but overall I'm happy with the product. I signed up for the free dynamic dns account, then put the info in my Verizon Fios Router and Foscam settings. I also used my ISP and set up an FTP Account. I also enabled UPnP, which allowed me to set up the port forwarding rules in my Verizon Router. I'm using a higher 4 digit port number ending in zero so I can add additional cams in the future. Other then the remote control with Internet Explorer, I was able to get all the other features to work, including motion detection, emailing via the SMTP settings (used my ISP again), and FTP of any activity out to my account (my hosting ISP is Bluehost - which allowed me to configure the FTP and SMTP info very easily).

Let me know if you require any assistance configuring settings, it's convenient to access via Dynamic DNS Address or directly via the IP Address (must add high port to each to connect). The 5 dollar iPhone app is also a nice access option.

If they resolve the Win 7 Active X issues or allow sound via other browsers, I'll raise my review. Also we'll see how the quality holds up over time. - Wireless - Infrared - Surveillance - Night Vision'

Computer Media - tdk, spindle

These TDK DVDs are always on sale (around $9 to $12), so the price enticed me to purchase and try them out.

I have an 8x DVD burner, so I was surprised when these TDK DVD+Rs burned at a maximum of only 4x, which is considerably slower. I've checked with an expert, and they've told me it's about the compatibility of the DVD media with the DVD drive being used. So obviously the TDK DVDs aren't compatible with all drives, and you may end up burning a disc at slow speeds like me. The surface of the discs have a grey color to it, which I like very much. Markers used to write on it really stand out, especially colored ones.

I have had no other problems with these discs. Everything I have burned onto them turned out great, with no errors or skipping of any kind. If it weren't for the slow burning speed, I would absolutely be a lifelong TDK user. Let's hope they produce better versions soon! TDK 16X DVD+R 50 Pack Spindle

this is one of the better DVD+R. for me using Nero & Toaster, my coaster percentage is ~5-10% after 50 burns. packaging is weak and, sometimes, it breaks in transit, giving you some scratched DVDs. though this is a random thing and a transportation thing, not the DVD per se.

I bought these DVD+Rs when they were $10.99/50 + Free super Saver...They are very durable, havent burned one coaster yet, and dont have half the top side covered with their name (like the verbatims and HP ones do; makes it hard to label when half the side has VERBATIM written on it.) Some people say tdk are low quality and have burning issues, but if you have a DVD recorder that isnt more than 5 years old, you should have no issues whatsoever. Memorex, which seem to make a good dvd+r as well, are about 3/4 as thick as these are it feels..which means the tdks are thicker and more durable. Although i havent had a dvd i burned using one of these for more than 2 months, i have a good feeling my data and videos will be safe for years to come. Best Deal on Amazon...Search for the TDK 100pk DVD+Rs, its going for $22.99 + Free Shipping.

These disks are, without question the worst disks I've ever used. I have almost a zero failure rate with any other brand, but these disks have nearly a 100% failure rate. Out of the 32 disks I've used only 1 was able to complete. It is during the closing out process that suddenly it can't be read. Avoid these things at all cost. The small savings is not really saving you anything.

I've been using TDK blank dvds for a long time now and never had any of the issues that people are talking about. The only time I ever have any coasters is if I do a whole bunch of other stuff while I'm trying to burn my media. It also might help some folks to have adequate hardware in their pc system/build. I've used dvdfab, convertxtodvd, ashampoo burning studio, imgburn, poweriso, and Windows Disc Burning, and I never have any problems with these discs. Honestly. They also play in a wide variety of media players. the only issues I've ever had with blank dvds were a Staples brand. I can't argue with other people's negative feedback, to each their own. It's your money and your choice, but I'll stick with what saves me money lol. I don't have problems with TDK. - Spindle - Dvd Media - Blank Dvd Media - Tdk'

Ipod Accessories - headphones, apple

I ordered this Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic a few days ago because of the very low price, and because of Amazon's reputation as a trusted retailer. This order was fulfilled by a third part retailer - The OEM Shop.

The Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic arrived a few days after I placed my order. The Apple packaging and instructions were not included in the manila envelope from The OEM Shop. There was also no printed receipt included within the manila envelope. The only thin that was included in the manila envelope from The OEM Shop was the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic.

When I tried to use the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic, the play/pause button did not function properly. And, when the mic was used in the recording of audio and video, there was static in both recordings. Although the price for this item was low, it was not woth it because the product does not work as it should.

Amazon's description for this item is "Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic (NEWEST VERSION) Retail Packaging] by Apple." The item that I received is not as Apple would sell it. And Amazon should not sell it like this either, even if it is through a third party retailer. I made this purchase because of Amazon's reputation as a trustworthy retailer.

If you're interested in the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic, I recommend buying it from Apple. If Amazon wants to be known as a reputable retailer, they should discontinue their partnerships with dishonest third party retailers like The OEM Shop. Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic (NEWEST VERSION)[Retail Packaging]

I initially bought these because I really wanted a microphone for my iPod touch, and the remote seemed like an added bonus. However, they arrived with the remote split in half. It snapped back together fine, and I ignored it despite the fact that I had to tape it together (it still worked). But within a few weeks, the cord cover ripped free of the plug, leaving exposed wiring. They continued to work fine, good audio quality, etc, until a month or so ago when the left earphone stopped working. Now I can only listen in the right ear or I have to stretch and bend the cord in odd angles to make the left earbud work. Definitely not worth the price. All I have to say is either they are a really bad knock-off or Apple has gotten cheap.

NOTE! BUY FROM AMAZON! DO NOT BUY FROM THIRD PARTY SELLERS!

I trust Amazon. Though the headphones are more expensive if you buy from them, they are genuinely Apple. The sound quality could use some improvement. The basses are weak and the highs aren't the clearest. However, they work pretty well as casual use headphones and terribly as exercise headphones. Sweat easily gets in the remote and causes it to stop functioning. Use with caution when exercising. Using the remote is dead simple. Volume up, volume down, and center button. Click center once for play/pause music, twice to skip forward, three times to go back, and hold for voice control [if on newer iPhones (will it work for iPod touches?)]. It is very convenient for answering/making calls. The microphone yields good quality talking and listening is clear. The connector part of the microphone has changed from weak rubber to a hard plastic. However, the cord can still easily be pulled out.

I would say these are decent headphones. They're good for calls and some music listening. Just be sure to buy it from Amazon and not a someone selling their product in the Marketplace.

Quick Note: If the product is not genuinely Apple, then don't rate the headphones. The bad reviews due to fake headphones are creating an incorrect rating. Instead, rate the seller lowly, ask for a refund, and buy the headphones from your Apple store, Target, Best Buy, Amazon (with Amazon.com as the seller), etc.

Hi,

These head phones stink. I have never seen a product from Apple this bad. Are they even Apple; I don't think so. Don't buy these head phones. To be smart, spend the extra 15 bucks and buy it from Apple.com.

The look and function exactly like Apple earbuds to the finest detail, however, the sound quality is noticeably lacking on these when compared to the genuine Apple equivalent. The sound lacks the depth and detail that I've come to appreciate in Apple headphones. That said, if you're not an audiophile, these earbuds still sound better than a lot of others around the same price point. Also, recordings through the mic sounded identical to the Apple product. The remote works fine, but the volume buttons don't 'click' as distinctly as the do on my previous pair; not a big deal. Can't say how durable they are as I haven't had them very long.

Bottom line, I guess these earbuds are worth exactly the price I paid for them, but I was looking for something that sounded as good as my previous earbuds, so I'll keep these as a backup pair. If these aren't genuine, they shouldn't be advertised as an Apple product, and they might suffer from some quality issues if I were to use them on a regular basis. - Ipod Accessories - Apple - Earbuds - Headphones'

Moisture Meters - woodworking, hardware

We were getting hardwood floors installed - or so we thought - when the installers notified us that they could not do the installation because the wood in our house had acclimated to 6.4% moisture and our subfloors were at 12.8% moisture. The installer found a leak in our water softener line which we got fixed the next day. Unfortunately, we had no way of knowing (ourselves) when to call the installer back. Hence, we purchased this meter.

As far as we know, it works great. We aren't too concerned with the overall accuracy of the instrument, +/- 3% is just fine for us as we're looking to compare the difference between two materials in our home (assuming the error is consistent between those readings). The resolution of the meter is 0.1%.

Other things you might want to know:

- It comes with it's own 9v battery.

- It measures wood between 5 - 50% and 1.5 - 33% for other building materials.

- It has a hold feature which allows you to save the current reading so you don't have to keep the meter jammed in the material you are measuring.

- It beeps to let you know when it is done measuring. (Although, you can turn this off. We did accidentally and then figured out how to put it back on. We don't know why, but it has 8 different tones from which you can select.)

- It has a toggle button between measuring wood and concrete (or other building materials).

- The instruction manual is easy to read and follow. They come in English, French, and Spanish.

- It uses a two pin system to measure the electrical resistance of the material between the two pins. This is then calibrated against moisture content to give you the reading as a percentage. This means that it will make two small pin holes in the wood you are trying to measure. Therefore, if you are concerned about the holes, consider a "pinless" moisture meter, which are much more expensive.

The instruction manual lists other uses such as testing the moisture content of powders (for any scientists out there who need to measure such things for making standard solutions from scratch) and to test the dryness of a wall or furniture before painting or finishing. It also shows instructions for how to track down a leak using the meter. There's a funny picture in the instructions with the caption "be careful not to hurt your hands on the pins." Although, I did "test" the moisture content of my husband's leg. Don't worry, I didn't draw blood.

Overall, for the price, the features, and the product functionality (so far), I would say this is a great buy. Also, we got it shipped quickly via Amazon.com. It arrived two days after we purchased it. Yay!

UPDATE (7/31/2010): The pins broke when we were testing some brazilian walnut - one of the hardest woods out there. But I read in the instruction manual that pins were replaceable. I emailed General Tools through their website and got a quick email back. Less than a week later, I had two new prongs FOR FREE in my mailbox. Customer Service was AMAZING! The replacement prongs are much better than the ones that came with the meter. The new ones are shaped like little cones and have worked great on the harder woods. General Tools MMD4E Digital Moisture Meter

I bought the General Tools MMD4E Digital Moisture Meter to check the moisture of some flooring and trim moulding for house I am building. At the price of this product, I don't expect much in the way of absolute accuracy. Instead what I want is relative accuracy. In other words, I don't care if the wood has 8% or 10% moisture content. What I want to see is, what does the wood do over time. Once the reading stops dropping, the wood has mostly gotten as dry as it is likely to get in its present location. I tested the meter by taking a variety of readings to see if I could reproduce a giving reading. I went from dry wood to wet and back to dry. It seemed to be able to reproduce readings with a reasonable reliability.

The meter has a peculiarity that I think is responsible for another reviewer thinking his meter was broken, resulting in a 1-star rating. If the meter has not been turned on for a while, you have to hold down the on/off button for 4-5 seconds to turn the unit on. I've used a number of products which require you to hold down the power button for a prolonged period to prevent turning it on accidentally, but nothing as long as this meter. To make matters worse, the documentation says nothing about this feature. I can easily see why some people might think their meter is broken. A strange twist on the on/off is that if you turn the meter off, then turn in right back on again, you only have to push the power button for about a second for it to turn back on.

I rated this 4-stars because of the accuracy Vs resolution of the display. Why do they have a display with a resolution of 0.01% on a meter with an accuracy of +/- 3%? In trying to reproduce the same reading multiple times I typically saw +/- 0.5%. Realistically the meter should not display readings to a tenth. Sadly, many people do not bother reading directions, and as a result they may believe that the meter is far more accurate than it actually is. (The skeptic in me wonders if that was the intention of the marketing department.)

Now if only the meter would dry some of my trim boards that are at 25% moisture down to 10% so I can start trim-out. :)

Once I saw my emergency restoration people with one of these I had to have one. This no frills low priced moisture meter does the one thing I bought it for, it tells me where the waters coming from and to what extent. The meter is easy to use and accurate, in dark places the green, amber, red light make it easy to detect the wettest concentration of moisture.

I've used this meter for several months now and like it. This is the second moisture meter that I have owned. The first one came on as soon as I opened the top which was nice because all you had to do was pop the top and get a reading for my split firewood. That meter suddenly quit, couldn't fix It took a little getting used to turning this new one on because I had to wait for the meter to turn on. It has an auto turn off in about three minutes but there are times when I'm not using it in that short of time. Overall, I think that it is worth a 5 because it has a nice large readout and it has a hold button for when you are reading in a low lighted area. It takes a nine volt battery. As far a accuracy, it provides me with a good ballpark reading for the firewood. - Firewood - Hardware - Moisture Meters - Woodworking'

Recumbent Bike - stationary indoor bike, recumbent bike

I bought this bike because i wanted to start working out in the comfort of my own home. The bike was easy to assemble. Its very quiet which allows me to watch tv or read while im workng out. The stride is very smooth and there are several levels of resistance. The seats made of thick foam and very comfortable. I love the color of the bike as well. Overall, this bike is a good value for the price. I would recommed this to anyone looking for a good, quality bike at an affortable price. Velocity Fitness Magnetic Recumbent Bike

The bike is comfortable, quiet easy to use. Assembly was very quick. My wife loves it. she uses it everyday. Amazon is excellent to work with. The first bike we receive had a damaged monitor and amazon immediately sent a new bike, all I had to do was take the old one apart and put it in the box and send it back. I highly recommend this bike.

I bought this bike, because I wanted to start working out at home. I do not have time with my busy schedule to go out to a gym. Therefore, I decided to buy this bike because I liked all the features and especially the color. When I got the bike, I thought that it was going to be hard to assemble, but to my surprise, it was not hard at all. I assembled the bike in a flash and just by myself. I tried it and it was every easy to understand instructions. This bike is the most easy thing to work out with, very smooth and enjoyable. The thing that I love the most was that it makes no noise at all; I can watch television without having to turn up all the volume. I definitely recommend the bike it is the best thing you could have in your home. - Recumbent Exercise Bike - Recumbent Bike - Stationary Indoor Bike - Schwinn 240'

Snorkel Set - fins, swim gear

I bought these for my 5 year old daughter to use in our pool. We had another pair of fins that hurt her feet. These fit great and are very comfortable. She wears them the entire time she is in the pool. She loves them. Having these fins float is an added bonus. I placed another order today for the smaller size for my 3 year old son. FINIS Jr Floating Fins (Size: 11-1)

I ordered the blue and green flippers for my 3.5 year old little boy and the sizing was the perfect choice! He was so happy with them he wouldn't take them off much around the house for two days, he even ate dinner with them on the first night! My son wears a size 11.5-12 USA toddler size and will be into a size 1 in no time flat. I expect these to fit then as well due to the slight bit of room they have. They fit snug on his feet where they should be snug like around the ankles to prevent rubbing and seem to give his little toes room to wiggle just enough. I appreciate the aesthetics, clean lines, and solid high quality construction. The material is firm in places yet soft and flexible in others, and despite being worn around the house for play in addition to being used in the pool, they have not shown any signs of wear or damage whatsoever. I cannot recommend these highly enough to parents of young children! Quality materials, durable for excited toddler play, easy to use and keep on during use and effective in the water. I answer questions when I can, so please feel free to ask in the comments section of this review!

Yours,

Jemoiselle

My kids love these flippers. One of the main reasons I purchased was that they are buoyant and float when kids drop them in the water or if they come off. Helps find them faster when leaving the pool. I highly recommend. Great value for the money.

My son is over 3 1/2, tall for his age, and the blue-green fins (size 8-11) fit just fine with some room to spare. I think he will still be able to wear these next summer, as well. They are pliable and light-weight and easy for him to maneuver. They weren't really floating for us when he slipped them off to "see it float" - they sort of stayed somewhere in the middle of the water between the bottom and the surface, but that isn't really important to me. What I needed was a good quality pair of fins that weren't going to fall apart in two weeks, that were easy for my little kiddo to use and these are it.

My 4-year-old begged for flippers (to be like his dad, a scuba diver) - so I settled on these after reading the other positive reviews. I am more than satisfied. The fins are very durable and attractive. They fit my son's feet well (he wears an 11 in a regular shoe; I bought the 11-1 size in the fins), coming off in the water only occasionally. What has surprised me is how much more confident he feels with them on! They have made a real difference in his willingness to venture into deeper water and his ability to pay more attention to his overall form when swimming. Great buy - absolutely recommended.

These fins were everything they claimed to be! My daughter is 5 yrs old, and wears a toddler size 10-11 shoe. We purchased fin size 11-1 and they do not fall off at all - I was really surprised since I bought them a bit on the big side. She is just learning to swim and having the fins is fun and motivating for her (fewer frustrations in the process of learning). And the fact that they float is great, making them easy to get on/off in the water.

I bought these for my 6 year old and they have been great. Love that they float in the pool. They have helped his swimming and confidence to travel into deeper water as he knows that he can swim faster to the edge of the pool while wearing these fins. Very pleased with the quality, color, and fit of these fins. - Fins - Training Fins - Swim Gear - Scuba Diving'
