Multi-region - hdmi, divx-player

I just received this DVD player tonight after struggling with a crappy Panasonic S-58 I purchased locally based on a few enthusiastic, albeit ill-conceived, reviews I came across on Amazon and elsewhere. I can't tell you how happy I am with this unit and the myriad ways in which it excels both my previous Phillips 3962 (rendered it useless due to a sticky rental from Netflix)and the previously mentioned Panasonic model (of sorry memory), but I'll make a feeble attempt by way of this brief review nonetheless:

Image quality: The Phillips wins hands down here, offering what appears to my eyes at least to provide a level of picture quality (out of the box with ZERO adjustments) comparable to high-end units commanding upwards of three times the price. The Panasonic, in contradistinction, offered a level of image quality that I judged to be,at best, mediocre, or what a more discerning home theater electronics fancier would refer to as "terrible". It would indeed be no exaggeration to describe the difference as dramatic and eye-catching. The upscaling to 1080i of my Samsung LCD is simply phenomenal. I can't even imagine how good the image would be with 1080P compatible TV models.

Features: This DVD player has every feature you need and even some features you don't need. For those of you with DIVx-laden flash drives, fear not, as this unit provides front connecting USB facilities that effortlessly transport the tech- savvy votary of cutting-edge home theater to DIVx heaven with the the simple plugging of a cord.

Price: Cheap and good. This is true of so few things in life. For all those currently vacillating between "cheap dvd players", I would advise you to not look a gift-horse in the mouth when considering this unit. Don't even think twice before hitting the purchase button and certainly don't wast your time and tire your poor eyes "researching" any longer. This is, unequivocally, the HOLY GRAIL of cheap DVD players. So save yourself some time and money and just hit the purchase button.

Accessories: For all those here endlessly kvetching about the "flimsy" remote, I beg to differ. The remote is actually very elegant and well constructed for a player in this price class. You want to see a cheap remote? Buy the Panasonic S-58 and be prepared to cringe as the dollar-store quality Chinese toy-like polyethylene plastic tenses and creaks helplessly under the pressure of your child's feeble grip. In any event, this complaint amounts to nothing more than the most minor of quibbles considering the superlative features and quality of the player itself. For my part, however, I stand by my judgement that the remote is just dandy.

In closing, I would like to thank Phillips for manufacturing this superb product and for providing it to the public at such a modest cost. In doing so, they are affording the non-enthusiast public a viewing experience whose value far outstrips the mere pittance for which it is exchanged, and which will only serve to further consolidate Phillips unshakable position as the leader in home entertainment electronics for years to come.

And, as always, Amazon.com is peerless in their prompt, worry-free delivery of new products.

This little bad boy of a DVD player comes packed with features. There are 2 major reasons you should get this player

1. The up-scaling on this player is very good. I have some DVD of older shows (like Babylon 5 and the original Star Trek, not remastered) and they never looked better! The image quality on the player is very good. While not 'top notch' like those $1000 up-scaling players, you are getting INCREDIBLE bang for the buck when it comes to the quality of your DVD image

2. Region Free. When you first get the player it will be locked to Region 1. There is a code/hack to unlock the player that can be found on the web (and even in the review section here if you look hard enough).

- Some say this player is slow to load but I actually find it very fast. Could of just been my old DVD player was just slow but I personally find this player loads fairly quickly.

- For "up-scaling" you need to use the HDMI port (no HDMI cable included) . I recommend leaving the HDMI settings on AUTO and enable the HDMI Color Enhancer.

**By leaving it on AUTO it lets your TV decide the resolution which means maximum compatibility (the DVD player up-scales the TV decides the resolution to upscale to)

**The Color enhancer by default is left to off, at least it was on mine. Basically if left OFF it will use 8-bit color (256 shades of each color). If turned on it will use 24-bit color (over 8 million total shades) it will make a noticeable difference especially on subtle colors

- The Menus for the player are simple and easy to navigate. In fact I'd say they are almost generic as if you bought a $5 DVD player. Philips clearly kept costs down by sacrificing on the bells and whistles but focused on what counts.

*There is no clock on the player (at least I couldn't find one)

*Menu is ultra generic almost Commodore 64 computer graphic look (but it is smooth and works as intended)

*remote is ultra basic but the buttons are generous in size, well spaced and easy to use

In summary this player gives you exactly what you are buying it for. Up-scaling DVD's and multimedia use. I've tested the DiVX and various media out on the player and it works exactly as intended/advertised. There is even a USB button on the remote so you can access the USB drive via remote control instead of going into menus. A great player with a great price and is ultra light weight.

** Up-scaling. Basically this DVD player is going to take your 720x480 DVD and convert it into a 1920x1080 image via HDMI. What separates a cheap player from a quality player is the Image Quality. When you "upscale" an image you essentially are matching the image pixel for pixel where as a regular DVD player will "stretch" the image to 1920x1080.

- By doing this you will get better color quality, image quality and it gives the movie/show a much smoother look to it

I noticed a few people mention that this player turns itself off after 10-15mins if you aren't doing anything (like you stay on pause, or just turn it on and let it sit) You can actually turn this feature off. You can find the feature in "General Setup" ---> Auto Standby Just set it to OFF and the player will no longer turn itself off - 1080p - Hdmi - Divx-player - Upconverting Dvd Player'

This is a great product. I love it. This sharpened pencils perfectly--even when my third graders sharpened them. Until that fateful day in January.... A student shoved a pencil in eraser first.... (So it was perfect from August to January.) That day in January I took it home and finally was able to remove a giant eraser-tip, but the sharpener wobbled and wasn't perfect anymore. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it failed. Now that it's April, it can handle one pencil before it dies--and it better be a Ticonderoga pencil or it won't work at all. (There is a warranty, but I'm sure misuse nullifies the warranty.)

I will be replacing it, as my students spend all day sharpening their pencils on hand-cranks that don't really work right. I will just sharpen 30 pencils each morning, which would take less than five minutes with this sharpener in peak condition. X-ACTO Teacher Pro Electric Pencil Sharpener with SmartStop, Black (1675)

I have suffered for years with the drudgery of using the cheaper x-acto model that Staples sells. I am so happy to finally have a sharpener that works! It's amazing what a difference there is between the two, and who needs the aggravation of broken pencil leads, dull points, and fussy kids? These days, one less unnecessary stress is much appreciated.

I am a teacher and have bought several pencil sharpeners and have always been let down. This is absolutely the BEST pencil sharpener I have ever used! Other teachers have come to my classroom to use it and have since gone out to buy the same one!! It is fabulous!! If you need a fast sharpener that will last a long time, this is the one for you!

This sharpener worked great for about a year. NOW, it takes forever to sharpen and makes a HORRENDOUS noise. I had a previous model that was great for 4 years until a student put a crayon in it. The new version is horrible. I had an electrician check it out for me to see if the noise could be fixed. All plastic parts inside and the teeth on the wheels have broken off.

DON'T BUY if you think it will last a while.

This pencil sharpener works beautifully...does a magnificent job sharpening, and automatically stops (and a light comes on) when the pencil is sharp. Seems well made & I expect it to last a long time in my classroom!

I was thrilled to finally get a sharpener for my classroom. However, I sharpened about 20 pencils and noticed that all of them were sharpened, but they had one end higher than the other, with the wood of the pencil coverering part of the lead. They did not sharpen evenly. I thought it was because it was new but after sharpening 40 pencils all had the same result.

I teach 2nd grade and sharpen hundreds of pencils. Never again will I buy this or any other X-Acto electric sharpener. They burn out and jam constantly. On my teacher's salary I am tired of buying worthless sharpeners.

I have a 6 and 8 year old daughter who are in first and third grade. This pencil sharpener seems to work great. It accomodates all sizes of pencils. The smart stop feature works well. It lets them know when to stop sharpening so that the points do not break in the machine. Highly recommend

Bought this for my 1st grade classroom in September. Holding up well and very happy. We sharpen a minimum of 22 pencils daily. I allow students to use it, but with supervision so they aren't all rushing it at once. Someone did attempt to insert a pencil in by the eraser and the sharpener ate some of the metal around it. I was able to unplug it and remove the jam. Another time a pencil had a decorative plastic wrap on it. That also caused a jam but was removed. After each jam the sharpener resumed working immediately without further problems. Forget all other audio companies. Sony will always have the highest quality products for the best prices. 3 foot high towers for $50 each??? They must be pretty mediocre right? Wrong. These speakers are wonderful.

They have a full, bright sound and can get as loud as you possibly want (and louder) if you have a decent receiver. There is a great distinction between the tweeter, mid and sub. These are the best speakers I have ever owned.

The only thing wrong with them is if you love extreme, rumbling bass, they might not meet your standards. But a good active sub woofer is a must for any good sound system anyway. Sony SSF-5000 Floor Standing 3-way Speaker (Pair)

I agree with previous favorable reviews. These speakers may not equal the sound quality of much more expensive models, but they come close enough to make the price difference to step up unreasonable for most people. The following review is intended for those trying to select between Sony models. In January 2008 I bought a pair of Sony SS-B3000 speakers from Amazon and was pleasantly surprised with their sound quality when use with a subwoofer and center channel speaker. I used them as floor standing speakers with homemade stands. Today I received a new pair of SSF-5000 speakers and I've spent over 4 hours doing A/B comparisons with the SS-B3000 units. My conclusion: the SSF-5000 wins out narrowly by placing the tweeters higher (closer to ear level). Otherwise, both excellent pairs of speakers produce similar sound: clear, crisp and with more volume capacity than my 18x30 ft. family room requires. I am particularly impressed with the tweeter quality during classical (Beethoven and Tchaikovsky) instrumentals and folk vocals (The Irish Tenors, Nana Mouskouri). You won't go wrong with either the SS-B3000 or SS-F5000. Choose according to your spacial preferences. The SS-F5000 is about a foot taller with virtually identical sound, width and depth. Either pair is an excellent buy.

First, I am an average listener - let me repeat that: I AM AN AVERAGE LISTENER - and I believe that the Sony SSF-5000 floor speakers are very loud, with good crisp highs, strong mids, and the bass response is absolutely great. If you need earth-shaking bass, you need a subwoofer, but these speakers will kick out a fair amount of bass - enough to feel through your floor. There is no distortion that I can hear, even when I have the system cranked up. Speaker connections were easy, even when I used fat 12-gauge oxygen-free copper wires. The black finish is nice. The cloth grills look great. These speakers match all the other Sony speakers in my system. I hope this review helps you.

These Sony speakers are just the right price and sound just like the way more expensive ones. You can have the look of them covered or without to show the woofers, great look. Play some Led Zeppelin on them and judge for yourself. They sound way better than my surround sound system I had and cost much less. Turn em up and rock out

I ordered a Polk Audio 5.1 speaker system, with an Onkyo TX-SR705, then I got to looking and saw these for $99. Needless to say I was very apprehensive about how these would sound, well I tell you what for $99 you cannot go wrong, I could see people paying $300-$400 for a pair of these and not complaining.

I am no audiophile nutbag, but these sound amazing paired with the Polks, the bass is even nice and tight, so go ahead an getcha pull and grab some of these for the price you will not be disappointed.

I now have a complete 7.1 system, that plays all the new surround formats, and is THX certified for well under $1000 Guess how happy I am?

I usually do not write reviews but these speakers blew my mind on sound quality for a small price. I have an Onkyo TX-SR505 receiver. I bought two sets of these speakers as my fronts and my Surround Speakers. Alongside I have two yamaha bookshelf speakers, an infinity C250 center speaker, and a JBL Venue 12" subwoofer. The blend with these speakers are phenominal. I listen to music all the time and these speakers compliment the mismatching speakers very well. These Sony speakers will take a punch as well. Don't be afraid of turning up your receiver and getting distortion out of these speakers. They will shock you!!! I am a musician and I love my music so all music lovers on a budget, you can't go wrong with these!

At less than $50 each I was not expecting a whole lot of performance, but I was pleasantly surprised. These speakers will really put it out there. They are small enough to fit into any size room yet are very impressive to look at. Driven by a Sony stereo receiver (125W X 2)they will fill even a large room with superb sound. They would make a great rear channel in a surround system. Firm base (without "booming"), clean midrange and very crisp highs, what more could you want!

I been waiting to write this until I got some use on 'em. Well. I was watching Jazz At Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis tonight and realized I had waited long enough. I am completely pleased with these speakers. For the price. I did not wait until the end of the program to write this review. The Jazz at Lincoln told me every thing I needed to know about these speakers. Sounds just great.

I listen to allot of Classical, even more Jazz and then Rock, Country and others. The violins, cellos, stand up base etc bring out the best in these speakers in my opinion. Vibes also.

Plenty of base ! Sounds great at low volume. I had it fairly low and my girl friend kept turning it down because of the excellent punch these speakers have. She loves Wynton so it isn't like she didn't want to hear more. I don't even have them hooked to the larger receiver that I bought to use with them. At the moment they are on a Harman Kardon HK3385 High Current Stereo Receiver that we use for the TV. Not suround.

The receiver I bought to use with these is the Harman Kardon HK 3490 2 x 120W Stereo Receiver. More power. Not really needed unless you are playing them at party levels.

The speakers came to me in perfect condition, box in good shape. I ordered them with the hope that they would arrive for my birthday. The shipping estimate indicated that they would arrive the day after : (

Usb Cooling Fan - fan, cooling

I house my PC inside a 15" wide base cabinet below the workspace in my basement-level office. I have to keep the cabinet door closed (locked actually) to keep the children from turning the unit off and on. Unfortunately, the inside of the cabinet gets pretty hot from the PC due to the lack of circulation. I needed an inexpensive, convenient, and safe way to keep the cabinet cool. I purchased the Thermaltake Desktop USB Cooling Fan, cut a 3.5" square opening on the side of the cabinet, and installed the fan facing out of the openning to draw the warm air out. This solution worked perfectly! I can adjust the Thermaltake fan speed up if I'm running CPU intensive applications - like games or watching a DVD - to draw more air. The fan is very quite - unnoticable really, and the fan grill keeps little fingers from touching the fan blade. I would highly recommend this product. I use this to cool my PowerBook G4. The laptop is up on a simple stand, but it runs pretty hot; the CPU often runs up to 142+ degrees F, at which point the noisy internal fans turn on. With the little TT fan blowing across the keyboard area, the PowerBook seldom reaches 140 degrees, and the internal fans almost never kick in. The TT fan is nearly silent at its lowest levels, very quiet at the level I use (~halfway up), and not terribly loud even at its highest setting. It's definitely got a DIY-geeky look, but at least it's not geek-bling with pulsing LEDs or anything. My one big knock against it is its lack of an off switch. Seems like it would have been simple enough to have it click off when you turn it all the way down; as it is, I have to unplug it at the end of the day.

I have an external hard drive that is "air-cooled" but it is in a location where air circulation is somewhat blocked. This little fan takes care of that problem and keeps it running cool. I had tried battery-powered fans, but the batteries would die too quickly. If I'm not using the external HD, I just reposition the fan to provide extra circulation for the tower.

This fan is extremely quiet and works unobtrusively. I don't even hear it running. Since I normally shut off my computer when I'm done, I'm not really bothered by the lack of an on-off switch.

This fan is a great solution to one of life's annoying little problems. :-)

Both my PS3 and XBOX 360 have a pair of these each: One assisting with the 'heat exhaust' in the back of the units (helping to blow air OUT and away from the consoles) and one blowing towards the 'air intake' vents' and back. The hot air comes out noticeably faster out the exhausts of both consoles.

I've only tried the Pelican Air Flo for the PS3 (and heard the horror stories of Nyko intercoolers for XBOX 360),but that alone was horrible. Tried two units bc the fan didn't turn on (supposed to start automatically when it senses heat) and both failed! Stay away from these after market fans and get the Thermaltake Mobile Fan II!

TWO CONS: not as aesthetically pleasing (This might turn some people off, but I don't care about the aesthetics bc it does the job awesome) and with the XBox 360, it doesn't power down with the console. I have an older 10/06 Xbox and and Elite, and its the same with both. (The USB outputs still feed power after powerdown...ie to charge controllers via cable) With PS3, it starts up and powers down with the console perfectly!

Now if only someone could recommend a good powered USB hub that can work without being hooked up to a PC or console. We could alleviate hooking these up to consoles/laptops altogether and put that USB Hub AC Adapter on a X10 adapter for wireless action! Any suggestions?

Since this is a modified case fan, it's incredibly reliable and quiet. Those cute USB fly fans barely move any air and fail after a few weeks of use. If you can take the semi-industrial / geek look, it performs fine as a personal desk fan. You'll get lot's of comments from your cube visitors.

I am also using this to cool my A/V cabinet which contains an extremely hot running Motorola cable PVR.

My Tivo was overheating during the summer because of poor air circulation around the built-in shelf on which it sat. I had tried other solutions, including a couple "laptop cooler" pads, but nothing worked particularly well. Then I bought one of these little fans, hooked it up to a USB port on the Tivo, set it to blow the warm air out of the shelf space to the front of the cabinet and watched the Tivo's temp drop a good ten degrees, well into the safe range.

These fans are extremely quiet (though I put it on a small rubber pad to cut down on vibration with the shelf.) As other's have noted, an on-off switch would be nice as I don't need it running all the time. Some kind of USB thermostat would make it perfect (but you wouldn't get it for anything like this price.)

Great product at a decent price. I'm going to order a couple more to cool a cabinet of network gear and the whole-house audio equipment I have in a closet. - Usb - Usb Fan - Cooling - Fan'

Plantronics Voyager Pro Bluetooth Headse... - plantronics voyager pro, bluetooth

I LOVE this product and so do the people I call! I have an unusually soft voice as well as an extremely loud downtown urban environment for background noise. All of my life I've been plagued with people asking me to repeat myself on the phone (even wired landlines). I purchased and compared this headset along with the Jawbone 2 Noise Assassinator, and the more costly 9xx Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth headsets and two other headsets with stereo features, and Windsmart technology. I tested each of the 5 different headsets in the car with the A/C blowing on the microphone, on the loud and windy downtown streets near my office and in quiet areas with 3 different people (some of whom have mild hearing loss). Hands down with every caller agrees with me that the Voyager Pro is the best headset for me and my environments (not to be confused with the other Voyager headsets).

If you have a loud (or probably even normal volume) voice, and don't have windy environments the 9xx Plantronics Discovery 925 is smaller, more comfortable, and has a super convenient carrying case that recharges the battery. I invested in the snazzy Discovery 925 first; but, unfortunately for my special needs voice and environment, the lack of vocal volume and windy environments prevented the Discovery from getting the sound of my voice to others. For me, I'm more than willing to go with the somewhat larger, not as comfortable, not as convenient recharge of the Voyager Pro. It's still an amazing headset that far out works ALL the rest. *** UPDATE 2: My replacement Voyager Pro broke right at 6 months. This time, instead of the rubber wire sleeve separating, the plastic microphone swivel broke. As before, Plantronics sent me a no-cost replacement.

I would like to address some of the feedback I have gotten on this review.

First, indicators. Yes, the Pro does indicate a charging state, and the light goes off when it is finished. I was used to the 510, which did the opposite.

Secondly, comfort. Everyone has different ears, and mine fit the 510 better than the Pro. I know this because I replaced my old 510 with a new 510, which I use with my laptop when working alone at home. Both the Pro and 510 are capable of connecting to two devices simultaneously, but each always tries to connect to the last thing it connected to, and I want a headset that always connects to my phone when I turn it on, so I grabbed a 510 for some ridiculously low price, and occasionally wear both at the same time. The 510, even straight out of the box, fits my ear better. Perhaps that is why my Pro keeps breaking. ***

*** UPDATE: As happened to another reviewer, mine broke in under 6 months. The flexible rubber bit cracked and eventually separated completely, right at the top of the ear, exposing the wires. Having long ago tossed the receipt, I thought I was out $100. But I called Plantronics, and they told me to mail it in for a replacement. A week after I dropped it in a first class mail envelope, a full retail Plantronics Pro box arrived at my door. I am hoping this one lasts longer than the last. ***

My Voyager 510 (v1) lived a long life. It was comfortable enough to wear for 8 hours at a time, which I often do while shooting pool. It worked very well with my Motorola RAZR (v1) for four years. It had good range, great battery life, and two annoyances. First, it had an extremely bright LED talk indicator that could not be turned off. This was changed on later versions of the 510. The second problem was wind/ambient noise. The 510 seemed to amplify everything, so unless I was in a quiet, windless environment when I used it, it was difficult for people to hear me.

I was very excited when I read the reviews of the upcoming Voyager Pro, and bought one the day it went on sale (sorry, Amazon, but Best Buy had exclusive marketing that month). The Pro looked like a better version of the 510, and in a couple of ways, it is. I like the audio cues that tell me the battery is low. The noise reduction is very, very good, although this seems to be at a slight cost to the fidelity of calls not placed in a noisy environment.

Nevertheless, this headset has flaws I cannot ignore. First, my RAZR refused to stay connected to it. I assume this was because the Pro uses Bluetooth 2.1, while my ancient RAZR was stuck at 1.2. The RAZR would complain of weak Bluetooth signal, then drop the headset. This immediately ended the call unless the phone was open, which rather negates the point of a headset. I bought an iPhone, which solved the connection problem altogether.

The second thing I note is that I can never tell when the Pro is finished charging. The 510 would let me know by lighting up the room with the brightest LED I have ever seen. The Pro gives no indication whatsoever.

Third, I have noticed, as have other reviewers, that the microphone catches in my beard. It doesn't actually pull hairs out, but it does tug a few times a day. It is a very minor annoyance.

None of these are reasons for me to give this headset anything other than 5 stars. But comfort is another matter. When I saw the design, I figured this headset would be as comfortable as the 510. For me, it is not. I can still wear it for a few hours, but my true test is a day-long session shooting pool, which involves a lot of moving around and changing head positions, not to mention challenging the battery life. My ear simply hurts if I wear the Pro all day. I tried switching the eartips, but none give me the comfort I had with the old 510.

That brings me to one final annoyance. I have tried wearing the Pro with bare eartips, and found it immediately uncomfortable. The foam covers are nearly impossible to get on, and very easy to pull off. Even the act of removing the headset from my ear can pull the foam cover off, unless I am careful. This was never a problem with the 510.

Pros: Great noise reduction, can pair with 2 devices at once, nice audio cues and battery life

Cons: Less comfortable than the Voyager 510, no full-charge indicator, poor eartip covers, does not play nicely with beards - Plantronics - Voyager Pro - Plantronics Voyager Pro - Bluetooth'

The performance seems to match or exceed the requirements of Canon 5D Mk II and does not cause any problem while taking pictures or shooting HD video. Most demanding picture format on 5D Mk II is RAW + JPEG (Fine+Large), and 32GB card can usually hold more than 900 of those. Transcend 32 GB Compact Flash Card 400X (Blue)

Works perfetly in all Canon EOS 7d HD Movie modes. I purchased two of them along with my 7d and have just ordered a 32 GB Transcend to extend HD movie capacity from 48 min with this 16 GB to 96 min.

May 2011 Update: While this 400x Transcend continues to work perfectly with my 7d under almost all conditions, I have recently found one condition where the faster 600x Transcend MIGHT make a very modest difference. When you are shooting RAW at 8 frames per second with this 400x, the camera slows down to about 1 frame per second after the buffer is full -- about six or eight shots. This would also happen at 600x, but I dont know how much it would improve. I just performed an experiment with my 400x Transcend/7D and got the following number of shots off in five seconds:

1. Large JPG only: 39 shots (buffer never overloads).

2. Large RAW only: 24 shots (slows down after about 8 shots).

In summary, there is no reason for 7D owners to spend the big bucks to go from 400x to 600x for video and probably no significant improvement even for 8fps RAW. Check out the table on page 59 of your EOS 7D Instruction Manual and do the math for yourself. High speed (8fps) RAW generates about 200MB/s while the 400x cards and 600x cards handle only 60MB/s and 90MB/s reapectively. Also note than if you are shooting RAW + JPEG, you can more than double your burst length by going to RAW only and converting later. Burst capability is therefore much more about the camera's buffer size and processing speed than about card speed. I have concluded that this 400X Transcend is the one for me and find no reason to spend more. If you are a 7D/600x owner who wishes to repeat this test with a 600x Transcend, I would greatly appreciate your reply to this post. For me, it would be an expensive experiment.

While searching for a CF card for my new camera, I didn't find many specific card results. So if you are using a Nikon D300s, this review is for you.

This card works great in my Nikon D300s. Here are my results at 7 frames per second:

RAW-12 BIT - Buffer show 17 frames but shoots 25 frames before buffer fills. Pause for about one second and can shoot for about 5 shots. Pause for 3 seconds and can shoot for 16 before buffer fills. Capacity shows 770 shots available but goes over 800.

JPEG-Large-Fine - Buffer shows 21 but never fills and will shoot at 7fps up to the Nikon limit of 100 shots. It goes down to about 7 or 8 in the buffer but never slows down.

Capacity shows 1400 (1.4K) photos available. I don't shoot JPEG much so I don't know the actual totals. 1400+ is a lot for one card.

I consider myself a serious amateur photographer and this card fulfills all my needs. My photography is mostly HDR, landscapes, and my kids (both at home and playing sports).

Unless you need to shoot in RAW 25+ photos at 7fps consistently, this is a great card for the money. If you shoot JPEG, it will work as fast as the camera.

I purchased this 16GB card for the same price as the Sandisk 8GB card. So for the price of a Sandisk 16GB card, I bought two Transcend 16GB cards. Until this card, I always shot with Sandisk Extremes III sdhc cards.

One minute, I was looking through images from a very important shoot on the back of my 7D and patting myself on the back.

The next minute, after turning off the camera and putting the card in my card reader, I couldn't see anything in Finder.

I turned on PhotoRec and tried to bring the card up. It told me that the card was 31.5 MB, not 16 GB. I tried a couple of other software packages with no luck.

I consulted a forensic expert (seriously, he had a ridiculous, proprietary, homemade card-scanning machine, and does lots of work with data recovery for the legal field) who ended up using a dummy card to bypass this card's controller. He told me that all of the memory on this card contained zeros. And that somehow, this card's firmware was incorrectly reporting itself.

My client's photos can never, ever be recovered. Ever. And this is probably because someone at Transcend wanted to save $5 on this card and bought cheaper, less reliable memory chips than they should have.

I've had no response from Transcend tech support after several days and am never buying one of their products again, even if it's $30 cheaper than the Sandisk version. Even if it's $200 cheaper than the Sandisk version, for that matter.

Don't buy this card! Don't buy anything from this company! And feel free to e-mail me to confirm that I don't work or consult for anyone in the electronics industry. We can even meet for coffee and maybe draw pictures of Transcend CompactFlash cards with crayons and then rip them into tiny shreds.

Foil Replacement - 5614, braun 8985

I have the Braun 8595 and bought the 8000 series replacement despite the bad reviews of the item. Turns out they were all true. The replacement pulled on my hairs, left my neck covered in pimples, etc. Then I read a review that said the 7000 series works on my shaver. Meh, I thought, for $20 I gave it a shot. Holy cow! This replacement ROCKS!!! Visually comparing the two cutters the 8000 series cutters are as thick as butter knives whereas the 7000 series cutters are paper thin. Couldn't believe my eyes and even showed my wife the difference. Anyway, my face gets a great shave with the 7000 series replacement for the 8000 series shaver. Two thumbs up! I should have done this earlier. Replacing the cutter and foil has made my shaver work like brand new. The price was great ($7 less than my local mega-mart INCLUDING shipping) and the product was delivered right to my door on time and in perfect condition.

As we all know, braun discontinued the original cutters and foils for the braun 360 shavers, and apparently the 'new' ones are awful. For this reason, i bought this Braun 7000CP 7000 Series Replacement Foil And Cutter Combo Pack to replace by original cutter and foil that I had been using for years. This 7000 series replacement works just as good as the original and will make your shaver like new! highly recommended.

This foil replaces the foil and cutter block on the 7000 Braun shavers and in my case the foil in an improved design on what came with the razor. The new shape of the foil holes allows my coarse and multidirectional facial hair to be cut more effeciently and with less passes.

Product came quickly and as promised. I guess I was hoping the new blade and foil would make the razor better than it ever was. I have my old razor back, thanks to the new parts, but I think I'll upgrade to a new razor next time I need replacement parts. - 5614 - Braun 8985 - Braun Refill - Braun'
