These tools will work...prvided you know enough about sharpening to give them a new edge. Smaller gouges, however, are ground incorrectly. Need to reshape the whole thing. Steel isn't bad, but it's light-duty. It does seem to hold an edge once you get it ground correctly - it's just a little lightweight. I suppose it's not a bad set for the beginning woodturner. That being said, the beginning woodturner usually doesn't have a lot of experience with sharpening tools. I think I'll look to start replacing them pronto. 8 piece Wood Lathe Chisel Tool Set'
