Home Theater In A Box - speaker stand, home theater
These stands worked with Energy Take Classic, using the screws that came with the stands. I tried Atlantic stands and did not find a good option to mount the speakers.
Use the L shaped bracket. The bolt goes into the mounting hole below the keyhole and above the terminals. The vertical side in the L goes against the speaker. The horizontal side in the L goes on top of the speaker stand pole. The terminals are below the elbow of the L. If you want a perfect fit, you can put a couple of 1/2 inch SAE washers between the L bracket and the mounting hole. They should cost less than a dollar for say a set of 8. I was impressed with these stands. I have carpet and these stands come with spikes that go on the bottom of the stands to hold them in place. I was surprised with how heavy they were and was glad to see the variety of ways to hook up speakers to the stands.
First off, this is a set of two stands -- the product description could certainly be clearer. The bases are good and heavy and the poles and even the L-bracket for mounting the speakers are very heavy gauge steel. The stands are not extremely tall, but they're the perfect height for my particular setup, and taller ones would probably tip (I mounted the front/back left/right speakers from a Samsung Blu-Ray HTIB with a set of 4 of these).
The tightening ring is, as others have mentioned, plastic, but it should be durable enough if it isn't over-tightened. That said, these stands really are mostly for the "home theater in a box" speakers. If you replace the ring with a metal piece (not too hard to find at a hardware store), you could probably handle heavier speakers, but they'd be more likely to tip, since the base is not terribly wide side-to-side. If I had heavy expensive speakers that needed stands, I would go for a professional grade tripod, not cheap home stands.
Assembly was ridiculously simple, though the instructions are insane in telling you to thread the speaker wire after assembly. Don't do that -- assemble the base to the first pole, thread the wire through that, thread the wire through the bent pole, THEN screw the two together. It also helps to bend back any exposed leads when pushing the speaker wire through, otherwise it will get caught on the rough surface inside. Easier yet is to just thread through some fishing line on a small sinker and pull the wire through.
Nice, unobtrusive balck speaker stands. They have carpet spikes so that they stay in place and you can also string the speaker wire up through the stand itself to minimize the visibility of the wire. The tightening screw for extending the stand up and down is plastic and feels cheap to me, but is doing the job admirably for now. Great product for the price!
I am impressed with these stands. The bases are nice and heavy, which help to reduce knock overs, especially if you have kids in the house. I especially like the fact that the bases are narrow, so they fit nicely in tight spaces.
Went through a couple of other stands prior to ordering this one. This was the only one that I could use to mount the satellites for the Energy Take 5 speakers. Satisfied with them so far:
Good:
- Heavy base making the unit sturdy
- Plenty of hardware for mounting
- Finish is durable
Bad:
- They dont extend high enough. We have a high backed couch and the dont extend over the top of it
- Running the wire through the stand was not easy.....if you have thicker speaker wire
Overall pleased with this purchase but only gave it 4 stars because of the height limit
After trying the cheaper Atlantic stands from amazon (which are horrible BTW), I finally found the stands I was looking for. The Quality is amazing. The instructions are a little vague, but everything else is superb. I bought these stands for the Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX589W 5.1-Channel Theater System. They work beautifully.
Excellent quality. Packaged well, so no damage during shipping. Was easy to pull 16 gauge speaker wire through and attach my Energy Take Classics. Also, heavier than I expected, but that's a good thing. - Home Entertainment Furniture - Satellite Speaker Stands - Speaker Stand - Home Theater'
