Tag Formula 1
I just purchased this watch through amazon.com. It was either this or the formula one alarm version at costco. The alarm feature on the other version isn't very useful so I decided against it. Packaging was nice, came in the tag box and case with manual. I like the look of chronograph watches and the additional feature to stopwatch anything is something i wanted to time rides, drives, runs etc...
Style is up to taste, but I find this a simple casual style watch you can wear with a t-shirt or be formal with a suit.
The two buttons on it are pretty easy to use, one to start/split and the other to stop/reset.
The watch has two main features, one is to tell time, and the other is the chronograph.
For telling time, the big red "second" hand doesn't move and hovers over the 12 o'clock mark. The dial on bottom serves as the second hand and moves continuously.
In Chronograph mode, the top right dial only moves after you stop the stopwatch or to do a split time. It will move to show the time in 1/10. The large red second hand will start to move once you are in chronograph mode and the left dial will move for minutes. I'm not sure, but I assume if you do something for over 30 minutes, then the dial will continually move and reset at 1minute.
Overall - I'm very happy with it. I believe Amazon has the lowest price on the web and they give a 2 year warranty which equals TAGs. Costco has a similar warranty deal as well. The prices are better than ebay, and those guys don't even offer a warranty period. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is it's reliability and service life. For something you pay $750+ for, you expect it to last nearly a lifetime, This will remain to be seen.
I've also noticed when I purchased, the price fluctuates between 729-749 day to day. So if you're patient, just keep on checking to save that extra $20.00 TAG Heuer Men's CAH1110.BA0850 Formula 1 Chronograph Watch
Bought watch at Longs Jewelers in Burlington MA. The stem (the part you wind up) has popped out three times. The first time, they fixed it under warranty. The second time, it was no longer under warranty, so Tag charged me $275. The watch came back and a week later the stem was gone again. I stuffed it in a drawer for a few months (angry) and when I finally got around to going back to the jeweler, Tag said me it would be another $275 as the warranty had expired. Shame on me for not bringing it back quicker but frankly I am sick of these guys. The jeweler (Long's Jeweler in Burlington Mass, useless and unhelpful) said warranty decisions from Tag are final.
I only wore this watch to work (desk job) a few times. It was in no way used "incorrectly" nor abused nor hit on anything nor even worn during any type of strenuous activity. The third time the stem came out, I had never even would or unwound it. Maybe I just got a lemon.
But my first Tag also had problems. It's a now discontinued model with a problem where the watch would fall off because the metal band was designed in such a way that the pins would come loose. I still have it, works fine, just sometimes the band splits open and it falls off your wrist. So I can't really use it.
If Tag would fix the problem I would be satisfied. But to charge me $275 twice for the same problem is just wrong. Never buying a Tag again.
I was bit nervous about ordering a fine watch over the internet, but my fears were baseless. I love this watch. It is exactly what was advertised. The only downside is that since Amazon is not an official Tag Heuer retailer you don't get an official warranty card. However Amazon does provide a comparable 2 year warranty. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.
This was my first Tag Heuer. It's one of the most beautiful watches I own... my other two watches are a Movado Luno and a Kenneth Cole dress watch. Everything works as its supposed to, with incredibly accurate time keeping. If you're worried about how genuine this product it, like I was, do not fret. It's Grade A 100% authentic. The boxes themselves are beautiful.
Don't hesitate to buy this!
Like the other reviewer, I had the crown, pop-off after the year warranty. I was running and didn't notice that it fell off. It was screwed before I lost it.
I went to Tourneau and they said it'd cost $300 just to stick that nub on. On a $800+ Tag-Heuer, a watch that is supposed to last, I find it a ridiculous price.
I didn't get around to paying up twice like the other customer on this did. I just thought $300 was a ridiculous price for that type of repair, and after breaking in such a short time. At the time I was afraid that as per the other customer, I'd have to pay almost the same price as the entire watch to fix that little crown, and it could still keep breaking?
If I'm paying for a Tag-Heuer, I expect this to last at least 2 years without a hitch, or fix the problem for $100 tops. I'm never going to buy a Tag. I'd rather get something that lasts.
I was a little skeptical about purchasing an expensive watch due to the fact there are so many knock offs out there and you never know the quality you get. However, I decided to do it and I was very pleased with the watch and with Amazon. It is an authentic TAG watch at such a great price. Shipping from Amazon was great. I received my watch a couple of days early from the expected arrival date and I had no issues with packaging. The watch is awesome and I have no fears of purchasing anything from Amazon regardless of the price.
Great watch that is very accurate. The price on these seems to fluctuate from day to day here on Amazon. I was not in a rush to buy, so I just added it to the wish list and bought it when it was low. By doing this I saved $100.00. I had the band adjusted at my local Tag Heuer dealer and the battery changed. I went ahead and had the battery changed as I did not know how long the current one had been in place and running. I love the watch and can say that it is the real deal and a wonderful addition to my collection.'
