These boots look more beautiful in person if you can believe. By all appearances, they seem to be well constructed. The boots reach mid-calf and the soles are made out of leather, which causes a bit of slippage on carpeted areas intially but soon fades once the soles have been scratched up a bit. The heels are made from wood and have a rubber bottom. The leather uppers are hand dyed, so the graduations in color give them character. The most buttery-soft leather also lines the boots and there are two well constructed pulls on either side to aid in putting them on. Although my feet measure 42 inches, I find that most size 11m shoes are too big. So, I ordered these bad boys in a size 10.5 (41.5") and I'm glad I did. Even with my thickest socks I still have room to wriggle my toes. Plus, I'm nursing a fractured left big toe and am able to wear these boots with little discomfort.
