Usb Adapter - n900, micro usb

Works as advertised.

What people find confusing about adapters are which male/female sides they need for their cable that they want to adapt. Just remember, male goes inside female (or, female is on top of male :).

USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor means:

1) The adapter's USB 2.0 side is female and connects to a male cable (male cables can plug directly into your computer's USB port).

2) The adapter's Micro USB side is male and connects to a female port (digital camera, MP3 player, smart phone, etc.).

3) So, if you have a USB cable that can plug into your computer on both ends, it's a male/male cable and this adapter is for you. One end of the USB cable plugs into your computer, the other end plugs into the adapter, and the adapter plugs into the device. USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor

I ordered a couple of these to do some android system integration. I have several android devices all of which support OTG mode when pins 4 and 5 are jointed together. I used adapters like this to make that connection easy and let me plug in standard devices.

I ordered two of these (they come in pairs). One had the pins joined and one did not. This caused a great deal of confusion since I would toss them in my bag and pull them out as needed. Who knows which tests were screwed up by this :( Now I have to start checking them all when I buy them. Quite disappointing.

I eventually cut one of them open (since the B side pins are too small to get to with a meter) and discovered the solder job isn't so good either.

This is perfect for using h.e.n. (USB host mode) on the N900. It's pocketable, light weight, and can be used with memory sticks pretty easily. The only thing to be careful of is to not use it with heavy items. It becomes a leaver quickly if you don't have something supporting it at the level of the phone. (Some puffy sticky tape works well for that.)

Bought this to use with my Motorola Xoom tablet since it supports USB OTG mode. The adapter doesn't work, no USB devices are recognized - I'm guessing it doesn't have the correct pin connection (4,5). Can't rate one star since this isn't explicitly advertised as an OTG adapter, but it shows up on amazon searches with the otg keyword, so just wanted to let other folks know that this will NOT work for connecting your Motorola Xoom to USB devices.

Either this is NOT an OTG adapter or they sent me one that's defective. I've got a Motorola Xoom freshly updated with Android 3.1, which supports OTG. I've tried plugging my camera and a keyboard into the tablet and neither were recognized.

I can't give it 1 star since it doesn't actually say anywhere that it's an OTG adapter, however it keeps coming up when I search for OTG, so I'm still going to drop it to 2 stars. (If it really is an OTG adapter and they just sent me a defective one, then it's junk and still deserves only 2 stars)

I like this adapter. I bought it for my Archos A70S Internet Tablet. It works well in OTG (USB On The Go) mode, allowing the tablet to work as a USB host. This means you can plug other USB devices to the tablet through it, such as cameras and USB sticks, and the Archos can browse their contents.

One thing to note is that the adapter consists of a single piece with both the male microUSB port (the one that plugs into the Archos) and the female USB A port (the standard USB port your computer has). This means that any mechanical stress on the female connector may be transmitted straight through to the tablet. I've had no issues so far, and I'm not implying this is a problem with this particular adapter, but you do have to be careful using this type of adapter. Ideally, you'll want to plug the adapter to the device you want to connect to your tablet first, and then plug the assembly into the tablet, in order to exert as little physical force as possible on the tablet itself. Otherwise, you should get an adapter with a short cable or "dongle" - but I've seen no such USB OTG adapters here.

In fairness, the listing does not say OTG cable but is one of the first products shown when you search for one. Unfortunately, this item is not what I was looking for. I will give it three stars because I assume it is functional, I have no way to tell because I have no other reason (or way) to use this adapter. I know it is not my Xoom that has the problem. I was looking forward to using a plug-in keyboard with it(more for play than for usefulness). I only know this because after this item did not work (for my intended purpose), I made my own OTG cable that allowed hosting on the Xoom. The cable I made is ugly as sin, but functional. I would have preferred this adapter for aesthetic reasons, but oh well. - Micro Usb - Usb Cable - Adapter - N900'
