I bought this screen protector hoping it wouldn't be like my previous crappy protector(different brand). What I didn't expect was how easily it went on how transparent it is! I actually can't tell any difference in appearance or touch sensitivity since i put it on! I love it. You will still get the finger smudges like a bare screen, but they wipe off just the same. I was trying to choose between this and Skinomi, and I'm glad I went with Steinheil. I have Skinomi on my iPod Touch and it's good but you can tell there's a protector on, by sight and touch. With Steinheil on my phone, the only way to know there's a protector on the screen is by looking at the edges. The protector is a fraction of a millimeter smaller than the screen.
Installation was easy after watching instruction videos online from other users. The screen protector comes sandwiched between two pieces of plastic and it was a little confusing which side it was that goes onto the screen. The product should have come with better instructions. And don't hesitate too long to put the screen on, as the sticky side attracts dust like a magnet, even when you're keeping perfectly still.
After installing, it looks like there is no protector on the phone at all. The only issue I have is that the screen protector retains finger oils like crazy. If that bothers you, this is definitely not the protector you should get. My screen always looks streaky from my finger swipes.
Almost immediately after installation, I had noticed a slight smudge on the corner in the shape of the sticker tabs that you use to take off the plastic covering the screen protector. Now, when I got the product, the tabs are not touching the protector, since they're attached to the 2 plastic pieces covering the protector on either side. So I had no idea why there were smudges there. They would not rub off, so I figured they must have been on the sticky side and I was pretty annoyed. There are 2 protectors in each package and I used one each on two phones. Both had smudges. About a week later I noticed the smudges were gone from both phones. So for any users that notice these smudges, wait a few days and see if they disappear.
After my disappointing purchase of the 5x HTC ThunderBolt 4G Droid Incredible HD ADR6400 6400 Premium Clear LCD Screen Protector Cover Guard Shield Flim Kit I am very pleased with Steinheil Ultra Crystal. The protector is just slightly smaller than the phone's screen which makes lining up the protector very easy. Application is simple and the protector adheres to the screen very well and leaves no bubbles. The protectors are thin but strong enough to provide adequate protection.
The only reason for my 4-Star rating is that the screen does smudge and retain fingerprints - this requires the occasional wipe down but it's a small price to pay to protect the glass screen.
Wow is all I can say, I can barely even tell that I have the protector on, and it really is crystal clear. It is a little short from the bottom but its like millimeters small like really small. I would highly recommend this just make sure the screen is really clean and free of any lint and dust, other than that you are good to go!
Having had trouble putting on screen protectors on a few other phones, I was apprehensive about installing this on my new Thunderbolt. However, installation couldn't have been easier. The screen is minutely smaller than the screen which makes lining it up a breeze, the backing isn't tacky which means adjusting it prior to putting it down completely is possible, and there are 2 backing sheets encompassing the cover so you don't wind up with fingerprints on the inside when working with it. I suggest watching a video on youtube (likely for installing the same brand of protector for an iPhone but the idea is the same) before you try it yourself. Plus, you get 2 sheets in case you somehow manage to mess up the first one. Overall, it was a snap to put on and is so clear that you can't even tell you did anything to your phone, unlike matte protectors I've seen. Highly recommended for all new Thunderbolt owners.
The quality of the product is very good. It is better than the one I bought at the Verizon store. It is edge-to-edge so great care has to be taken when installing to center it just right.
Unfortunately, the instructions are poor. Each of the 2 shields has two layers you have to peel off. One says to remove it before installation so I naturally assumed that it was the adhesive side. I was wrong and lost a whole protector or roughly $7.
The video on the product page shows installation of their product for the IPhone and that shield does not have the 2 layers to peel off like the one for the Thunderbolt has.
