Headphones - headphones, volume control
These earphones were so inexpensive, I thought they were going to be an incredible deal . The reviews were very positive, and as for the gent who said they were like an "AM radio"... well, I just figured he didn't push them into his ears far enough. I was wrong. After experimenting with the two different sized earplugs, cramming these things deep into my ears- and also wearing them lightly, I could not get decent bass or treble out of these. They just sounded very mid-rangey, muffled, and there was no deep bass whatsoever. I used my Sony discman for this test, and I KNOW that it produces very deep bass and crystal clear treble. Also, the specs online say these buds have 15mm drivers; they are in fact 9mm.
If you are shopping for a child, or just want some ok "sound", these are fine. But if you want to squeeze the most out of an ipod, discman, etc.- you better spend more money. I'm going to try the Sonys next. By the way, the build quality on these is excellent, just wish they sounded good ! Coby Isolation Stereo Earphones with Volume Control CVE91BLK (Black)
I recently bought these earphones. They were meant to replace my old Ipod earphones (came with the Ipod) which broke. These are worth the [...] I paid for them. The sound quality is very good. In fact, I think they are better than the Ipod earphone sound quality. When listening to songs, I can literally hear every instrument and beat. The rubber plugs that are part of the earphones does as intended. That is, they block most outside noise. It even comes with an extra set of rubber plugs in case you lose the first set. Best of all, they're very comfortable. Whenever I would take my Ipod earphones out of my ears, my ears would hurt (because the metal parts would be touching my ears), but with these earphones, my ears don't hurt at all after I take them out.
If you're low on cash and want a decent pair of earphones, get these! They're great.
I'm no audiophile but even to me these headphones have terrible sound reproduction. Get the other Coby's on Amazon if you want something cheap, surprisingly better sound reproduction -- keep in mind that they'll break relatively easily.
Yep, they're comfy, all right--fit nicely in the ear, block off ambient noise, nice and light. But the sound reproduction... enh, not so much. I'm used to top-quality earbuds and lightweight headphones, and these just sound like an old AM transistor radio. I'll wear 'em for yard work, for the comfort, but if you're expecting really crisp, broad-spectrum audio performance from a pair of earbuds, it's a good idea to look elsewhere.
Huh! I'm not sure about the other customers... I think Coby changed the specs on the product recently, without changing their ads everywhere on the net...
Do you really get what you paid for? I bought the same... the Tech specs on my product says 9mm Samarium Cobalt Drivers, not 15mm Nd drivers as stated on every website including Coby's. Thats a big difference in sound quality - isn't that cheating? I know its cheap in price, but mis-advertising?
Don't buy this product...if you have, call Coby, call Amazon, call Buy.com... misadvertising is just a cheap way to get your money
I got the Coby CV-E91's looking for a good low price set of earphones. The earpieces are soft and comfortable and the volume control is nice to have. But, if you are looking for a full sound with lots of bass, these are not for you. These earphones just don't have the richness and large bass as the original phones that came with my iriver clix.
I had originally ordered these earphones on the 13th of August, 2010 because I was having trouble with my then-current set of earphones and I was looking to have an extra set of earphones for when they broke. After having this set of earphones for over two weeks and listening to various sorts of media for only a couple of weeks, I really appreciate having these earphones. They provide excellent sound quality, they are very portable, it comes in a very neat colour, they are very comfortable, and they're long enough for me to be able to listen to music and podcasts on my iPod touch while riding around on my bike or when I'm walking without much problems. The only quirk that I have with these earphones is that if I am to turn the volume knob to the maximum level, then things would sound a bit muffled; I would have to turn the knob back a teeny bit to get that desired level. It's not a big deal; just a minor problem that can be sorted out easily. All in all, these earphones provide excellent sound quality, neat aesthetic styling, great comfort and exceptional portability at an affordable cost. Granted, these are not the perfect earphones, but if you like decent earphones that can give you a pleasing listening experience, then these earphones are for you.
I bought these for the volume control feature: my digital radio volume control is either too loud or not loud enough with the digital control. With these earphones, I can get the perfect volume. They stay in my ear OK and are much better than the cheesy earphones that came with my Ipod. When I want excellent sound, I switch to my Sennheiser PX 100s.Sennheiser PX 100 Collapsible Headphones - Earphones - Headphones - Volume Control'
