You NEED to know - volume affected by other headphones!
This is a glaring omission from the product description.

Things get really complicated quick the more number of devices you plug in. This isn't the fault of the manufacturer, it is inherent in its passive design. BUT is should be stated clearly so you know before purchase.
I am imagining fights in the backseat of the car when someone turns their volume UP/DOWN to annoy everyone else! Belkin Rockstar Multi Headphone Splitter
This is one nifty product. I had bought y-splitters in the past to split stereo signals. But when I came across this item in Amazon, I decided to give it a try. It is so convenient and the quality is superb. Don't bother running to the RadioShack to buy a y-splitter, get this Belkin splitter instead if you ever is in need of routing your stereo signal to multiple speaker systems.
ps. I wish they make it in black color also. All the stereo cables most people use are black. So a black splitter will blend well with the rest of the cables.
I use a splitter to record my bass guitar by splitting the signal out of my TASCAM trainer into headphones and a digital recorder. I started with a generic splitter which became loose and stopped making reliable connections. I moved up to a Monster splitter which developed the same problem. I decided to try this splitter since I figured I would have three new connectors if it starts to fail. Well, so far so good. This splitter has the most solid connections I have ever felt. I have been using it almost every day for over a month and it feels as solid today as when I got it. I think I have a winner here; and if I don't, I still have three more connectors!
There should be nothing really fancy to write about this connector, since it's just what you see in the picture.
I must anyway leave this note to say that this connector, besides being useful it's also really cool looking, and sometime that is important too: makes you feel cool :-)
This is a simple connector: there is no "active" parts, so if you plug more devices, it will affect volume.
I personally used this adapter to plug one speaker set to 3 different sources (PC, Wii, DVD player) and I find that when the PC is on, the sound has a lower volume, but I just turn up the volume on the speakers, and have no problems with it.
Important note: inside the package there is also a green color cable, male to male stereo 3.5mm jack connector (~1.5ft), that is not mentioned in the product description, but it's useful to know.
This product is very helpful. Before, I only had one input on my computer and now I have 5 so that I can use both of my speakers at the same time. Very good product and I am very happy with the purchase. The included male to male cord is a big help as well.
After reading reviews of several other splitters, I chose this Belkin Rockstar because I didn't see any reviews that mentioned poor volume when multiple devices are plugged in.
With 3 cables plugged in (even though they aren't all operating at the same time), the volume is so low that it is almost silent. Maybe it was my mistake for believing that this splitter wouldn't be like the other ones, which all had reviewers comment on volume loss. It isn't different.
