The 50 grit pad was what I tried first. It would not remove any of the stone surface. Moving on to the other grits, none of the others would remove any stone. I'm assuming that the diamond binder was too hard. Also tried MK 50 and 150 polishing pads. They worked great. The hook-and-loop backer pad that comes with these pads did work well.
