This is a great adapter for using your old hard drives in SATA only systems that many new computers are these days. Most vendor computers such as Dell only ships with power supplies that are exclusively SATA oriented.
Just buy one of these little adapter to use your old but still useful IDE drives. Of course you'd need IDE port as well, but you can also buy one of IDE PCI card and use that.

So, the description for this item is wrong. This is for using an old device with a new computer, not the other way around. If you have a device (ie pci card) that needs an IDE power supply and your computer uses SATA hard drives, you will need this converter. - Power'
