Nintendo Accessories - 3ds, hori
This is my first review ever for a product on Amazon. I was so impressed by this case though and HAD to let people know.
I owned this type of case for my previous DS Lite and loved it so was looking for a similar case for my shiny new 3DS. It seems that I was successful in my search. I am VERY pleased with this case!!! My 3DS fits perfectly and doesn't add too much bulk to the overall unit. It snaps right into place in the plastic holder and doesn't move around at all. I can play my games right from the open case but I also have the option (which isn't mentioned in the official description) of sliding the unit out with the plastic holder attached. The case is soft and padded and I'm not too worried about damage to the 3DS in case of droppage which will inevitably happen because I'm such a clutz. There are 3 small pockets in the front cover for games and a small loop near the spine for an extra stylus. The games fit snugly in the pockets so they are in no danger of falling out. There is a velourish type divider between the game pockets and the top of the 3DS so there are no worries in scratching the gorgeous shininess that is 3DS. It has a magnetic snap closure that holds very well.
The only drawback I can see is for the guys. The outside is shiny black with a crocodile skin look, much like you would find on a pocketbook or day planner. In other words, it's kinda girly. The company might want to think about making a manlier style for the guys. It also smells funny right out of the package but it just needs to air out as is the case with most fake leatherish items. Nintendo 3DS Luxury Leather Case
There is no question about the success of the Nintendo DS over the past several years. It honestly has been one of the most enjoyable video game systems on the market for the past several years, and has honestly gotten better through time. But when there is one good accessory that comes out that is great, there is one that isn't in full worth its money. That does come the case with this new Nintendo 3DS Luxury Leather Case. The feel of the case makes it easy and simple to store 3 of your favoite Nintendo DS and 3DS games past & present. It also works well with the Nintendo DS Lite, and Nintendo DSi. Sadly though, there are better cases that are worth their money, like the PDP Pull & Go Folio, which holds over 2 dozen titles, and at a a few dollars more. Still, if you're new to the Nintendo DS, and if you're looking for a nice storage case, than this would be a nice place to start.
Price: C+
Convience: B-
Overall: C+
the good:
The 3DS does fit well, and snaps out easily as you first attach a little plastic frame to the 3DS before inserting it into the case
There is room for 3 games and a stylus
the bad:
the outside is a very very tacky shiny faux reptile of some kind, very shiny.
the case had a very strong chemical smell (solvent?) and i had to air it out for 2 days on the porch before i could use it.
when closed up it is quite thick, bagable but not pocketable.
when you pop your 3ds out to charge it the plastic frame prevents it from fitting into the dock and the design of the frame makes it impractical to remove the plastic frame in order to recharge in the dock.
summary:
why buy such a cheap case for such an expensive gadget.
the plastic frame that attaches to 3DS is annoying and hard to remove. you could do better. - Hori - Accessories - 3ds - 3ds Case'
