Kids Fishing - surf fishing, okuma

The rod looks really nice and well built, but I have issues fitting the pieces together. The butt section and the middle section does not fully seat by almost 5/8 of an inch. Additionally, the medium tip does not fully seat by almost 3/8 of an inch, though the medium-heavy tip fully seats to the mid-section. I contacted Okuma service when I first got the item, they tried to contact product development and they have yet to get back to me. Okuma NOMAD Travel Casting Rod (30 - 60 Lbs, 6-Feet 6-Inch, Medium-Heavy)

I have this & 3 Balzar products. They have enough air miles on them to get a free trip anywheres. These ferrules do not fit flush. I presume it is to allow for long term wear. It in no ways compromises the integrity of the rod's flex strength. I have hooked up fish up to 100 lbs on the light action salt water version, trolled with it & landed a 55 lb sting ray with no problems. My equipment is typically superior to the charter's.

This is my 4th Okuma Nomad. I bought this for the Solterra Reel I have. I took it to Maine last week & caught over 30 Cod at 100-300' catching 5 double hook ups. The rod works well for jigging. A big selling point is portability & two tip options. I plan to take this to Aruba for some deep water trolling. Sturdy product & bullet proof in Saltwater. Check out the Inshore series Nomads. These rods perform as well as 1 or 2 piece rods.

I've come to really like Okuma brand fishing!

I wanted to get a light duty saltwater rod that could also stand up to some medium action out on the seas. I also needed it to be somewhat portable, so after doing some searching online - I narrowed it down to the Okuma Nomad. I also own an okuma trio reel paired with a c3 rod that I use for trout fishing - i love that too! So I had pretty high expectations for this rod.

Upon opening the box and playing around with the rod for a bit, my first impressions are that this is a great quality rod. Looks and feels fantastic. As another reviewer stated, the connections joints don't meet flush (up to 1/2 inch, depending how much force you want to use to jam it in there), but I don't think that will inhibit the rod's performance overall. It's light and feels great under my arm. Also Amazon has the best price on the L/ML rod that I've seen anywhere! Paired with my Okuma Clarion I hope this rod will serve me for the rest of my fishing years, certainly so if/when I travel and there's fishing opportunities. I may sound a bit like an Okuma fanboy, but I'm also a realist - If I notice any negative sides to this rod after i take her out, I'll update my review. - Fishing Rod - Kids Fishing - Surf Fishing - Okuma'
