Ipad Pen - iphone, touch screen stylus
I have an iPhone 4. I wanted something compact for a hand-held device. This stylus is amazing! It took me forever to find it but I'm SO glad I kept digging. It's great for typing and games (and everything). It's smooth, sleek, stylish, comfortable & functional. Extended it fits perfectly in my hand, though it can be used unextended as well. Both the lanyard connector cap & extension cylinder snap firmly into place. This is a REALLY solid unit. I am amazed it's under $10. I feel like I should have paid at least 2x as much. The tip is rubber "bubble" so it actually behaves like the skin on the tip of your finger! Brilliant. I have only had it 1 week & I'm already getting super fast @ typing with it. I can't say enough to recommend this product to iPhone users. PLUS there is a slogan printed on the side: "Design is Improvement" I am into art, design & web so I love the concept. The only thing that I don't like is that the slogan is starting to wear off already :( Thank you Elago! Great job. elago Stylus Retractable for iPhone 4/3GS/3G, iPad, iPod Touch, AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4, Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab
This is my first stylus so I have nothing to compare it to. From reading comments on other styluses the two main things that make a good stylus is how much pressure is required to get the screen to register and how easily it glides across the screen. This does both those to my complete satisfaction. The stylus unextended is 2 5/8" long; extended it's 3 3/4". I use it unextended holding it up against my index finger most of the time. I use it with my iPad.
This stylus is very nicely made- probably of 400 series Stainless steel which is highly polished. The extendable feature is smooth
and convenient. Unfortunately, my sample has a VERY VERY tight cap- so tight that you have to pry it loose
using two very strong finger nails or a knife blade. When it comes off it doesn't fit on the other end like a pen cap
would! This is unfortunate because it would give the cap a place to park and also would extend the 3 3/4 inch (extended)
length by about 1/2 inch to make it a bit more comfortable to use. The cap has a short cord to a semisoft plastic plug that
fits (poorly) in the headphone jack. This means you cant use the headphone jack unless you put the cap in your pocket.
These design flaws are surprising given that the Manufacturer's slogan printed on the stylus is "Design is Improvement".
I think I will re-machine mine to correct these design flaws and then I might have a really nice stylus.
Follow Up- I fixed it by turning a bit off the working end to make the cap release easier and turned a bit more off
the sliding end to let the cap park there. I also found a pocket clip that fit the barrel- it's now 4 1/4" long
with the cap parked in place while using the stylus tip- and it has a convenient pocket clip.
Now it's perfect.
PS What do you do if you don't have a Lathe? Perhaps wait until elago "improves the design".
PPS- the metal parts are plated brass- not Stainless as I first thought
The elago retractable stylus is great for us "fat fingered" people when using the on screen keyboard on our smartphones. It is small and compact but extends to a nice "holdable" size. Another nice feature is that it comes with a little rubber plug than you can insert into the earphone outlet of your phone so it is always with you and you don't have to remember to pick it up and put it in your pocket all the time! I just wish they would have made the tip just a little bit firmer. Very nice product.
The product does work, and works rather well.
It is a little short (as to length) to use fully comfortably - if it telescoped out another inch or two, it would be significantly better.
The tip is also a little more thick and mushy than ideal.
A little refinement in those areas would make it a 5 star product.
For anyone just getting used to a smart phone, this stylus is wonderful. I was having such a problem texting, the keyboard was just not large enough, even when I put the phone in landscape mode. This little tool has saved the day. And since it has a tether that fits in the headphone jack, it is always close at hand.
This stylus works well on the capacitive touch screens of the iPad and iPod Touch. If one touches very lightly with the stylus, the touchscreen doesn't see it, but if you push down a little bit, so that the bulb is slightly flat on the top, then it is registered.
Due to the nature of capacitive touch screens, you won't be able to write clearly, small, or fast using one, so you shouldn't expect that any stylus will allow this.
The stylus is constructed very well, and has withstood my light use of it. The telescoping rod is a good stiff, and locks into place when fully extended. When partially extended, the firmness lets you rest the weight of the stylus on the retractable portion, and it doesn't retract. Even if you drop it from its height, it doesn't retract. This stylus reminds me of a piston in the smoothness in which it retracts. - Iphone - Iphone Stylus - Ipad Stylus - Touch Screen Stylus'
