Dragon naturally speaking 11 "Premium Edition," software is great and definitely worth the money! :-) Anyone, who does a lot of writing, any kind of writing should most definitely consider this purchase. This version of "Dragon" seems to work significantly better than previous versions of the same software. Each version feels like they have gotten somewhat better, but this one feels like it is "leaps and bounds" ahead of even its most immediate predecessors, versions nine and ten etc. so I would like to give a shout out and kudos to designers of this software program. "Thanks guys!"

Having said all of that, I have a couple of serious suggestions to make to those of you who are considering purchasing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.

My immediate suggestions are these:

1 Do spend the extra money and buy the premium edition rather than the standard, and it works much better. This is most especially true in that you can compose, as I am doing now, directly into your favorite word processor without excessive "cutting & pasting."

2 Do not waste your money and on the addition that includes the digital recorder, which is the addition that I am reviewing here because it is the one that I bought. I have had significant problems with the included $100 Philips digital recorder. I had much better results with a much less expensive digital recorder from another manufacturer, which I had purchased much earlier, some years ago in fact! So, save yourself the $100 and buy the software without the extra included hardware.

3. While I can't speak to the addition that includes the wireless microphone in the box, generally speaking users, especially new ones may have problems with wireless technology and Dragon NaturallySpeaking over all. When I sit down and write, for extended periods of time. For example, dictating for three hours straight is not at all unusual for me. When it comes to long "writing," or more precisely, "dictation" sessions, users especially new ones are likely to experience problems with wireless technology and Dragon. This is not, generally speaking, because of Dragon at all. It is because the wireless technology battery life is still very limited. As battery power in wireless microphones begins to go down, Accuracy etc. is very likely to drop off markedly and steadily. In my experience in order to get to anything close to the accuracy potential of Dragon your microphone power must always be at maximum and nothing less than maximum. So if you as a user, you write in long composition or dictation sessions, ones which regularly exceed two hours in time. My suggestion is, save yourselfin the headaches and the money and go with a more tried and true technology of a more traditional "wired" microphone. Also, while there is not necessarily anything wrong with the microphone that is included with the software, you may find that it is worth your money to invest in a higher-quality, meaning more durable microphone. The hardware compatibility lists on the Dragon website are your go to source for reliable information on this subject. 3 a Do not purchase a third-party microphone without first checking these compatibility lists. If you do so, you are very likely to waste your money. A lot of cheap microphones available in the "big box stores," which claimed to be good for voice-recognition are actually a waste of money.

3B on the other hand, if you're writing/dictation sessions are likely to be short, again two hours or 90 min. and less and you can frequently return a wireless microphone to its charging base, and/or you tend to move up and down a lot while writing/Dictating or you tend to be interrupted a lot, then a wireless microphone may be very much worth looking at. For me, an experienced naturallyspeakingl user, I will only buy wireless microphone when the battery life improves significantly.

4 if you are a new user, buying the training DVD that is offered along with this, but it's separate purchase item, is definitely worth the money, because no hard copy manual or documentation is included in the box. If you are a new user you definitely need instruction before you can really get effective benefit from Dragon and DVD is great for this. There is also a "training workbook" which can be downloaded from the Dragon website and used along with or separate from the "training DVD." Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11 with Digital Recorder

THE DRAGON DICTATE VOICE RECOGNITION PROGRAM IS SUPERB.

FIRST, THE DELIVERY was on time, and the product came in a small box. Ground transportation. Inside, you find the software disk, and possibly another disk with promotional programs on it.

THE PRODUCT IS EXCELLENT. YOU RECEIVE the DISK(S), a really nice HEADSET, covers both ears, and it's not a "cheapy" one to hustle a deal. The SOFTWARE IS SUPERB, EASY TO INSTALL (I went slow and was done in 40 minutes), and comes with a really NICE FOLDER listing all of the "COMMANDS" you can use to structure and organize materials, including TAB WORK for performing accounting work.

The folder also shows you, very carefully, by looking at the folder/card and the software, how to do commands like "Go to Sleep," "Wake Up," commands for dates, times, corrections for mistakes, etc.. NUANCE did a great job here of helping a first-time user get into the software and using it correctly. IT IS EASY TO USE.Dragon Naturally Speaking Premium 11

GOOD LUCK! YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR SOFTWARE PROGRAM FROM NUANCE, AND, REMEMBER, TRY TO FIND A CODE OR COUPON FOR A REDUCED PRICE (I'M CHEAP! I ADMIT IT!).
