Ugly Stick

Shakespeare makes great rods if you are looking for durability and long life. We have been using them since they came out in their first year.

After multitudes of broken rods; caught in doors, trunks, stepped on, run over, and I mean lots and lots of broken rods over the years; our ugly sticks are still catching fish. Shakespeare Two-Piece Medium Heavy Action Ugly Stik Lite Salmon/Steelhead Spinning Rod (8-Feet 6-Inch)

The ugly stik lite MH is alot more rod than the really expensive G-Loomis and St-Croix 3 to 400 bucks for a bait caster really!!!! The ugly will reel in alot bigger fish without breaking and the other highend rods WILL NOT, The ugly stik casts just as well if not better than the other units if you do not buy the ugly you are just paying for a name and not a real quality product like the ugly stik is and always has been.....I read a test in Field and Stream mag a few years ago using the ugly stik and a few highend fishing rods using heavier weights lifted by the various rods and they all broke except the ugly stik! And if you start talking about the action of the other rods being better how dumb are you? That really only applies to fly rods, that is new major B.S. brought up by other rod building companies to make there bait casters look better, in reality you cast your weighted line out and let it set on the bottom or bobber fishing and don't touch it until you get a bite where is all the action involved in that. or throwing and retrieving lures still no action involved in that either! Any rod will do that well except for the very cheapest $15 instore special.I have been fishing for 52 years and the crappie just seems to get deeper every year, if you want to overspend on a name be my guest and throw your money away, but if you want a reel rod that is going to last more than a lunch time and fish up a storm, the ugly is far and away the best rod out there regardless of cost, and you can buy one just about anywhere, nothing can match this rod for rugedness none of the other rods on the market don't even come close, I have owned and still own several of these uglies and will never pay an arm and a leg for the other inferior rods on the market!!!'
