We tested it on the truck's exhaust and it went off at about 60 ppm according to our digital CO Meter.
Which proves it works to Govenment Standards. This model does what it is supposed to do, the more expensive models just have more features that you probably will not notice on an everyday basis anyway.
This is the least expensive model we have seen that functions, so we hope at this price everyone should have one in their home and garage.

Bought this in November. Put it up and within days it's "chirping" 3 times per minute which means (according to the device) that it is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. Amazon was awesome and sent out another one right away. Same exact problem. I'll be returning the second one and choosing another alarm.
We purchased 5 of these; one for each bedroom, the family room, and an elderly neighbor's bedroom. Install was painless. It does, however, need to be mounted on a wall, not a ceiling, so we chose a spot over each bedroom door.
Carbon Monoxide MIXES with the air. It does not stay low or high. You can't see it or smell it. That's why it's so deadly.
The piece of mind of having these installed is enormous. More people die of CO poisoning than from fire. If you don't have a CO detector, get one, two, etc. The price is right.

When testing the product after installation, I would advise a person to put earplugs into their ear canals. The tone is very loud, which is good. However, for testing purposes, please protect delicate hearing.

It is simple to install, and convient to place on the wall. All it takes is a few AA batteries to install, and works nicely for anywhere in the home. There are very few alarms that are worth their effort, and First Alert knows how to make some good ones. These seem like nice detectors. I put one on each level for added protection. There are some limitations on placement such as further than 5' from any cooking appliance, 20' from any gas burning appliance, etc. But, after figuring that out, mounting them was easy.
I got one of these for my mom's house. We've had it for 6 years now and only replaced the battery once. We test it usually every few months, and unplug the battery during the non-heating months. We placed it next to a register/vent downstairs. Great price, these things can be very expensive.
I just received this monoxide alarm today and it was easy to setup, mount and use. Easily screws into the wall. Every home should have one! It is recommended to have one on each floor of your home, but definitely near sleeping quarters. I have been meaning to buy one for the longest and the price was right on this one. What else can I say, it gets the job done. I sleep more peacefully knowing that my home is carbon monoxide free.
Recently purchased a new furnace. The gas company, furnace sales reps. and the furnace installers all told us carbon monoxide detectors should be located near the furnace and above the vents in bedrooms. Was surprised to read the company insert in this product to say the exact opposite. So surprised: I called them. There are reasons not to locate these where we were told.
