Compact Dvd Player - excellent, cheap dvd player
Nothing fancy about this DVD player, works as described. I needed a portable player that would fit in the same bag with my 10" portable LCD TV. I often work in remote areas where there are no signals of any kind, so this unit fits my entertainment needs. Some locations have cable or satellite, which is why I prefer TV setup over a portable DVD player w/ display. I have used this unit several times, so far no problems. Easy packing and connecting capabilities. Coby DVD209BLK Ultra-Compact DVD Player, Black
I was looking for a good DVD player for a tight space on my boat. This one fit the bill and it works great. I purchased the extended warranty after reading some not so good reviews, but hope I won't need it.
I just rec'd the Coby DVD. I took a chance and purchased two, one for my mother and one for myself. I haven't had it but a week and just had the opportunity to connect it at home and at my mothers house. So the only thing I can say so far so good. I couldn't read the instructions in the manual because the print is entirely to small so I just used common sense. It was fairly easy once you connected the cords in the right inputs. The remote you have to get use to as to how it functions. I don't think anything is wrong with it you just have to make sure you point it facing the player's lcd and you have to determine whether to press with a quick release or hold the button down till a response by a prompt on the tv screen appears. It plays great and the cost was great as well. I'll write another review after I have had it a while. Hopefully this unit won't disappoint. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to purchase due to some of the negative reviews I had read. So I rate it a 5 because at this time I'm completely satisfied and just the right size to fit in tight spaces and light weight.
We have bought three of these Coby players over the past 2 years. Mainly because they are small and cheap. All failed in under six months, all worked as described for the first several weeks, then had loading issues and then just failing all together. They are used rarely in our guest room or for the kids to view DVDs occasionally if we have company downstairs. Had that situation this past weekend where I popped in a brand new DVD and the player refused to load it. It then refused to even power down after I repeatadly pressed the power button. I ended up just unplugging it and tossing it in the garbage. I'll spend the extra $30 and get a more reliable player so I don't have to worry about ANOTHER one breaking down at an in opportune time.

Despite the line in the description: "NTSC/PAL compatible, convenient on-screen display, and camera angle support", this player does NOT play PAL discs. I believe, after purchasing this, that this refers to the video output format, which virtually _all_ players are compatible with both output formats. I was looking for a cheap dual region player, and this did not fit the bill. My 1 star review is for inaccurate or at best, vague, product description.
Wanted a small DVD player for my kitchen where I do not have alot of space. This was a perfect option, works well, can't really get the remote to work but I think I need to read the directions again...just haven't had the time. From my research, Amazon had the best price on this even including the shipping.
I purchased this item for my Mother because I have a silver one and I love it. My Mother uses this little player every day and loves it. She enjoys the ease of operation with the remote and it's sleek compact look. - Cheap Dvd Player - Dvd Player - Compact Dvd Player - Excellent'
